1996 Stock alarm
Anyone know anything about the stock alarm on these cars? Heres the deal The security light on the dash blinks when you open the doors. When I try to program a remote to it the locks go up and down like they're supposed to but when I push a button on the remote its like it don't take it. I am crossing the wires in the plug that is in the rear drivers side quarter like the instructions say. But for some reason it doesn't take the remote. I have tried the one that came with the car (new batteries in it) and I also went to ford and bought a new one. Please help!

Are you crossing the wires and leaving them crossed?
Your only supposed to momentarily jump them . It should take less than a second to go into programing mode. as soon as the locks cycle take the jumper off then push the key fob button.

I have tried it by
1 turning on key 2 shorting plug 3 pushing button 4 turning off key
1 turning on key 2 locking and unlocking doors 3 shorting plug 4 pushing button on remote 5 turning off key
I have tried leaving the jumper in and taking the jumper out after it cycles lock.
I tried the putting the key in and out like 6 times to clear it (per all data)
I tried the newer way by cycling the key on and off 9 times I think it is but the locks don't cycle so thats not it (per all data)
It cycles the locks like it should when you short the plug in the trunk but when you hit a button on the remote nothing happens.
ITs got me stumped. Maybe the receiver is bad? Is there any way to test it?
