The trickflows will allow more duration without piston notching. My Comp 270's required notches. I would advise the trickflows if you want to run a stock short block for a while.

well I think it's time is all. My lifters on a cold start up sound like a homeless man carrying a bag of cans for almost a solid 15 sec also burring a bit of oil, been like that past 3 months so I think it's just time. 150k miles. so I would rather do this work now. I will be doing all of this solo- clutch, trickflow heads, stage 3 comp cam and then hauling it to shop for tune and 3.73 rear. i have to do the engine work my self or I can't make cash meet, will be pulling engine at a father in-laws house to do it all right. will I have to replace rockers is my last real question if you can help me with that. kit's replace everything else. I am spending right at 3k for all off this and then 400 for dyno tune and 3.73 install still need quote on flywheel resurfacing.

Honestly i'm not trying to insult you, and i don't know what your experience level is but mod motors don't have lifters they have lash adjusters which are similar but are not the same, they have roller rockers (no rocker arms or push rods) they typically will not cause a clacking, that sound like an oil pressure thing.

If you have never worked on a 4.6L OHC it's really not the place to start, FYI if you are doing a trick flow head swap believe me you will be well over 3K gaskets alone will be $500.00

trick flow heads with stage 3 cams on a 150K bottom end himmm, sounds dangerous to me.

Again not trying to be a jerk but it sound to me if you need to do a little more planning, also i put 3:73's in my car last winter did all the labor myself and still have over $300.00 in parts but i did do axle bears seals and all.

I've got pictures of everything I've done to my car including head swap if you want i will send you them.

Good luck

valves/rocker tapping is what I meant and for the 3rd time your dealing with a guy that has had brain surgery and these post take 30 mins to write because of all the corrections I make so if I use the wrong words on here I'm sorry you should hear me try to speak....
