Default need tips

i have an stock auto 01 muatang gt , last night at the races i ran 14.5 at 96

i have the hypertech programmer, i adjust for more power and stiffer shift
changed 1-2 gear to go at a RPM and left 2-3 gear to factory setting

is it better to stay in the lower gears as long as possible or get to third gear as fast as possible

what RPM should i adjust the car computer to for faster times at the track
i want to know from 1-2 and 2-3 or even 3-4

I would say it is hard to know where you should shift without a dyno sheet, but basicly you want to shift so that your rpms drop into your powerband for the next gear. I beleive i have heard that it should be around 4500 rpms after gear change for 4.6 mustangs but i don't know for sure. I think you just find out how many rpms you drop between 1st to second gear and add that to 4500 to get your shift point. Assuming that 4500 rpm is in your powerband Anyone else know for sure? I think that is right.

keep the shift points at stock and don't shift manually just let it do it by itself. with my stock 01 GT i hit 14.2 so you have a little to improve.

whats your 60'? once you lower that you will see lower times. get some gears preferably 4.10's or 4.30's and drag radials and you'll see a pretty large gain in the 1/4.
