Default '02 GT cams

What aftermarket cams will give me some good performance increase as well as making my car louder and kinda shake at idle. I saw this one guy with a'01 GTat the car wash where i work (I'm 17) and his stang was shakin nicely i believ he said it was the cams that did that but i don't remember. SO if anyone could help suggest some good cams and where i could get them for a "02 Gt that would give me the sound performance and shake that i am talking about as well as beign a good preice please help. Also how much ,on average would they cost to install, and what all would i need ot buy with them. I know some require other modifications to go with them but soem don't. Thanks

Stage II VT Cams..

I wouldnt go any higher than stage 2 though, because Im assuming your a daily driver.
This will add a real nice loping sound like your looking for. Look for some of Code3GT's sound clips, he posted a bunch recently. His silver GT has Stage 2 cams.. and it sounds nasty!

Actually if I may correct myself.. He has custom grinds.. But they are right at about Stage 2. Not quite Stage 3, but right in between.
Stage 2 will do it for ya though.

Anything above stage 1 is a bad bad idea unless you have or plan to have a bottom end rebuild done.

Please don't give advice on cams unless you have alot of experence with em. I got screwed when I put the stage 2s in because people on this forum told me they would be what I was looking for.

Well I was just answering his cams question.

I was assuming that he knew other engine work would need to be done. With just about any cams your looking at much more work that just the shafts.

But your right.. I should have provided more information.
Ill keep my mouth shut now

for cams dont you have to have a custom tune, new gears, full exhuast, maybe full intake, a new stall if your auto?

Im pretty sure that you would need a custom tune. Im almost positive for an auto you would need a stall kit.
Cams are definitely not an easy project and require much more work than just the shafts.

Can you give the kid some more info on what he would need to do for the stage 2s? I know a P&P/valve job and new springs are good, but what else is required? I'm not real smart on cams, but I'm willing to learn.

To really see the potential of big cams, you will need to twist the motor pretty high and have good flowing exhaust. So, headwork and forged internals are a good idea.

Are stage 2 cams too much for a daily driver? If I were to get stage 1 cams, what else would have to be done. I already have a midpipe and cat-backs and I am getting long-tube headers soon. I have a cai if that means anything too. What kind of stuff would I have to do to make sure my car is ready for after-market cams? Thanks -Kyle

Unless you have the motor to support Stage 2+ cams, get some Stage 1's and you should be more than happy.
