engine tapping noise/ have some questions
my friends mustang is a 98gt, it has a built engine 4.6liter SOHC, lowered compression for a supercharger, i dont remember what kind of supercharger, but he had alot of work done and he had the car tuned and dynoed.
month later he starts his car with a loud tapping noise, the sound is coming from the drivers side head from the back 2 cyl. loud tick is consistent with the engines rpm's.
im thinking it could be a valve, lifter,or me something needs to be tightened?
could this just be a rocker that needs to be adjusted?
if i go to take the valve cover off what do i look for exactly? im not very experienced with ford heads and valve train
anyinfo is greatly appreciated thanks

RE: engine tapping noise/ have some questions
I know this is going to sound off the wall, but I have seen this happen several times on the 1996-1999 4.6 motors. The spark plug loosen in the head and will rattle in the thread holes. Eventually, the plug will blow out destroy your coil/plug wire and occasionally make an attempt at putting a nice fat dent in your hood. Check the plugs on 2 and see what you've got. It is easy to check and a real possibility. Beyond that...you could have an exhaust leak, valve problem (not too common though).
What is built on the motor, just the bottom end?
