Default Sway bars: Worth it?

I have been wondering this question since I got my first Mustang. Do sways, with springs and CC plates, really help Mustangs handle better? I am all about drive ability because my Mustang is my DD. Lets say in theory that I get H&R SS's, come CC plates, and front and or rear sway(s). How would my car handle? Anyone who has them please post pics and advice about brands, sizing, install, pricing, etc.

Thanks,
Free

They make a huge difference. I didn't realize how much of a pig in the handling department the GT was until I bought a Bullitt. I could never go back to a stock suspension'd GT again after having a Mustang that actually handles decent.

I look at sway bars as more of a fine tuning thing rather than a must needed mod. With springs shocks/struts and full length subframes, I think thats more then enough for a car thats a DD. If you compete in autocross then by all means get it all but just remember not all sway bars are the same..there are a lot of different sizes. If you pick the wrong size your going to throw off your over/understeer ratio.

Yes, I would like to know as well as to what brands, sizes, etc. are the right fit for my application. Like I have previously said, I am more than likely going to run SS's, some CC's, sub frames, and maybe shocks and struts if I really need them. My car has only 56k so it it a must to get new shocks and struts when getting lowering springs?

Depending on how hard you push your car, you will feel what you have(over/understeer issues) going to a thicker bar or more stiff bar will increase understeer and vice versa with a smaller bar. You can get adjustable bars that will give you a little adjustability for under/oversteer also.

What I found interesting is that to make the Bullitt and Mach 1 handle, they used the Cobra front swaybar, which is thicker than the GT, but they used the swaybar from the V6 on the rear, which is thinner than the GT.

My combo would be:

Subframe Connectors
lower control arms
Cobra front swaybar
V6 rear swaybar
H&R springs
Bilstein shocks and struts
MM caster camber plates

IMHO, that would make for a wonderful handling street car.

whats the advantage of using the v6 sway bar in the rear. its more flexible so the car sets itself better going into turns. i would think a looser back end would cause over steer????

IIRCthe effects of stiffness on understeer/oversteer is the opposite for front and rear.
