Default are tuners really worth it??

I have a 99 GT and am looking to get a little more out of it, i cant really tear it down and do cams seeing i have a warranty on it for the next 3.5 years and 40k miles. So I have to do something that can easily be taken out incase of any problems, and was wondering if incase any of the plug in tuners are even worth it or what should i be looking at?

If you have an automatic, yes, any reputable tuner is worth it.

If you have a manual, a tuner is great as long as it's not the factory tune that comes with it. I swapped from the preloaded SCT tune to an emailed VMP tune, and the difference was night and day.

With the the lack of mods you have, i wouldn't go out and spend money on a tuner. When you get gears, lt's with o/r mid pipe and other goodies for under the hood and then you should look at tuners

my car came with a 3 yr 36000 mile warranty. I slapped a vortech on it and cancelled that thing. They refunded the money back to GMAC and they took it off the principle amount I have left on my loan

+1 Add some exhaust and a CAI then go for the tuner. The exhaust components shouldn't void your warranty.

Any mechanical modification at all voided mine.. I'm putting my exhaust on Monday which will automatically void it. I'm keeping the stock one just in case.

i have a warranty from vehicleone which is seems to be a good warranty with work ive had done and ive asked them and exhaust and cai doesnt void it which i am also buying but on top of those two items i wanted to get a tuner because its one thing i could easily remove if it goes into the shop and thats why i was wondering if its worth the money. also ive found one locally on craigslist for $200. so for the $200 is it a good or bad buy?

Make sure it's unlocked.
Tuners are good for one car, and one car only.
After that tuners been used, its "LOCKED" into that VIN so it can't be used on a 2nd vehicle until the original car has been erased from the tuner.

Theres no way to unlock a locked tuner but to erase the original tune from the original car.
