Default Bolt on Advice

Hello All,

I am new to the site and I am a stang JUNKIE!

I just bought a 2003 Triple Blk convertable w/ 52000 miles, 5-Speed, ALL stock accept K&N air intake.. I am interested in some bolt-ons for some added power, however I am not sure of the difference between a 70mm and 75mm Throttle Bodie and the amount af potential horses added with it. Any advice on the best bangs for the buck for power?

Thanks

Matt

welcome to the forums. I would forget about the t/b and plenum. Start of with Long tubes, mid pipe, and catback, gears, and a tune. If you cant decide on what kind of mid pipe/ catback combo you like, just go to youtube and streetfire.net and see what sounds best for you

Gears and Short throw shifter first. First things I did , The STS is just a must and the I just put my gears on and it feels like a new car. After that decide where your going with your car like N/A , F/I or N20. Once your mind is made up then add more modds that best fit your path.

So what gears are preferred. I am looking to end up with around 300hp overall. Maybe a bit more.. Its driven about 10 miles a day to and from work and thats it. I'm not too knowledgeable when it comes to gears. I just got my stang after wanting one since i started driving, so forgive me for my lack of performance knowledge. lol

how much money do you have to spend?

To get to 300hp you will need:

Heads
Cams
Long Tube Headders
Intake
Chip+Tune
O/R H or X (or prochamber)
Aftermarket Catback
Chip+Tune

All that is well over $5000 in parts in labor (prob close to $6k)

Or...... you can get as far as I did (about $5k in already) and decide that you would be better off just flat out buying a pro charger kit and calling it a day (to get 360 to the wheels, not 300)

It just depend on how much money you have and if you want power, or a gradual gain in performance (with the added benefit of a new toy on your car)

Oh, and I have 4.10's and I love them. I top out in 4th at about 110 MPH though. 3.55-4.10's are excellent choices whatever they are.

I would say I'm looking to gradually turn my car. I am planning on doing most of the mods myself, I just wasnt too sure which mods to start out with. But with the info you and the others provided, I'm gonna start with STS and gears. I think that sounds like a good start. INteresting that you top out at 110mph in 4th. now when u say top out, you mean MAX mph??. lol.. Thats hard to believe in a GT with your mods

Get 3.73's with a 5 speed. You won't be sorry. You need to tune with those gears. Either get a handheld tuner or you will need a pro shop to do it for you. I would suggest taking advantage of AM's deal where you get the gears and tuner combo, then get a canned tune for the 4.10's.
