that being said IF i went with gears i would go 3.73's. i like a tame car but when called upon can give you a good kick in the pants. why not try and have best of both worlds? hell if it it was just a summer ride or a track star then i would do things differently
I have full bolt ons and 4.10s with a t45 and still get 24-26 highway. This notion that 4.10s kills your gas mileage is so stupid. Your going to get the same milage with 3.73s that you do with 4.10s id be willing to bet. Its all in how you drive the car.. if you drive like a retard everywhere then yea..your gonna be like the ppl that post asking why they only get 15mpg...

How do the gears make your car tame or untamed? Again.. it comes down to how you drive.

As far as gears go.. I wish I went 4.30. Most of the people who talk smack about gears dont even have have aftermarkets swapped in yet. The only reason not to get a lower gear would be if your gonna boost and dont want to build your suspension to handle it...not because your sole argument is gas mileage.

just my .02

My definition of tame is not driving down the freeway at 3,000rpms when my redline is 5,500rpms. I've had the gear, and frankly... I wasn't impressed.

Nobody said you need to move down the freeway at 80 either. My gas mileage that I posted is doing 8 all the way to the beach. If I would go the speedlimit it would be well above 26, and be around 2500 RPM. If you have a quality exhaust instead of dronemasters the rpms are not an issue.

I said I need to move down the freeway at 80! but for reals, if you're not doing 80 you're being ran off the road.

I just found better ways to not need the gear. I find a lot of people hide behind their gear.

Basically people have no low-mid range power so they throw in a short gear for a cheap thrill. It works, but I'm more looking for an all around package.

How do you expect anyone with a 4.6 2v to get anymore of any power range from bolt ons.. not gonna happen chief. Are we supposed to reinvent the heads to allow for flow there?

Jesus this debate is goin on long lol. This is just like exhaust...everyone's different. I just think 3.73s are more streetable. Some may think different, but thats fine. I think 3.73s would be plenty for me.
