Cus we got a bunch of retards working for ford that just finally had the idea "lets actually give the mustang a decent amount of horsepower". I think it was maybe only the SVT focus that had the pump, but im not 100% sure on that. A lot of guys run them though for 400rwhp cars.

haha...thank you for asking that question. Classic. Anyway, not to jack this thread but how many of you guys go to carlisle for the show(s)? It would be cool to meet up with some of you.

If you're gonna go to the trouble and especially if you are going to pay someone to replace your cams, you would be a fool to put in a set of stock PI cams instead of blower cams. Cams are much more crucial to airflow in these motors (PI or NPI) than the heads.

If you're going the blower route, then I agree: PI intake manifold, Blower Cams (MPH custom grinds get my vote) and a mongoose kit. That should put you right around 5 grand and well capable of +400rwhp.

Or you could say yes to Nitrous, and still have enough money left over for a Full PI swap, built rear end, shocks all around, nice set of sticky tires, reinforced torque boxes, subframe connectors, gears, new shocks/struts all around, money left over and a low 12sec maybe even high 11sec capable car. But you're right, no nitrous.

Well it looks like I found my combo, i'm looking at a Vortech kit for $2,900, and a re-manufactured long block for $1,999 with free shipping on both. I'm not looking to go full race with this, i'm just looking to not getting spanked by a VTEC. Looks like
i have some big decisions to make this week.... Thanks for the responses everyone, this has been a big help. Great Stang Ron by the way, I wish I had skills like that to build a classic.

I don't know if you read the text from the link I posted http://www.pro-touring.com/forum/showthread.php?t=38420. I tried everything thing possible to get to 400 hp with a 4.6 2v on a budget,I'm convinced it could not be done, sold the 4.6, and finally went the LS1 route. Hated to do it, but the build was all about budget.
