meth injection hp increase numbers
i just received my ais stage 1 kit i n today with the dual nosles. i have asked this question all over the net. what is the actual power increase people are making with meth injection. tuned/not tuned/80/20...30/70. i cant seem to get anyone to give me some actuall numbers. im going to put mine on sat and wont be getting a tune til april at modular depot so im going to run a light mix til i can throw the mech at it.ill keep you guys posted..til then post those numbers. thanks

I don't want to be the bearer of bad news but. My friend took his 06 gt to the best tuner in a major city and because he was n/a even with/after a tune he got exactly 0 hp gain. The tuner said without a power adder they are a waste of money. The tuner runs a notch with a 399ci na at 4000 ft in the 9s so I think he knows what he's doing. Sorry maybe someone with a n/a car can prove me wrong and I'm alright with that.

Well, it depends on what he did in the tune. Meth decreases your intake/exhaust temps allowing you to run less fuel and more timing without running into detonation. That being said, there needs to be power left in the tune for you to gain anything. It's possible that every hp was squeaked out of his setup even before the meth kit was installed. There is no reason why a meth kit WON'T help performance on an N/A car. Think about engines with really high compression. They need to run less timing and use race gas to prevent detonation. Some of that timing can be put back in with the use of meth injection and can also allow the use of pump gas.
Granted there is much more to be gained back on blower cars since they need to have a bunch of timing pulled and fuel added to prevent detonation when running boost.

I've seen everything from 5-15% power increase. It really depends on the amount of boost and the heat.
Meth does work on NA cars. I was talking with a meth company for a long time about using their setup for NA and standard compression and from everything they said it was very doable. I was going to get an NA meth kit way back when I was NA. It's only a couple percent increase in power but when you're working with $300 tb mods, or LT's that only add a few Hp each, 2-3 percent is a lot.

Yea, the addition of timing could be a big help depending on how much power youre making n/a. So when you add methanol injection, you can lean out the fuel curve a little more than usual or is that a wrong assumption. Just a question i thought of because if so, thats a way to get better mpg's if anyone is worried about that. I saw Snow's MPG-MAX kit that was supposed to get you better mileage, so i thought i'd ask.
