Don't you have to modify the trans tunnel?

Never heard of that being required on this application. I know a couple guys that have done the swap and I'm sure they would have mentioned that. Maybe something different on the 94-98 models though???

I just remember somebody saying that if you swap manual to auto there is a section of the trans tunnel close to the shifter location that has to be cut out. I cannot remember if it was an Edge or SN95??

I have heard of people needing to fab up a bracket in order for the front mounting points of the stock shifter. Check out this pic and the next one in this article where they did a swap into a Bullitt. They also had to knock an ear off on the drivers side of the case (bellhousing area). Something about being used on truck applications, but IDK if that comes on all 4r70ws. It's on mine, so I might have to grind or cut it off.

Ya the trans tunnel is fine for this swap. I just finished doing this swap and the only thing I ran into was I can't get the shifter bezel (thing that goes around the shifter base in the car) to fit over the stock shifter.

Thanks Lizzy,
yeah there is more than one reason for the swap.
1. consistency
2. will hold far more power/torque than my current setup and will be cheap to build up in the future if I make much more power than I currently plan on.
3. and is much much cheaper than going with a tko or built t-56 (which I would still be less consistent with)
4. like you already know, even the tkos don't like the high rpm shifts. So I would need to get a built/modified manual just to fit the bill which would cost around 4-5k when all is said and done.

There will be less than $1700 into this swap even with some upgraded parts, a custom torque converter, cooler, and several other mods. And I still will be able to sell the 3650 and aftermarket parts to go with it

This is the one I will be running for now. I will have to upgrade later on down the road when I will push a bit more power

HAHA that looks like the same B&M cooler I have. If it is you will be fine with that for while and if your car is just a track car will be plenty enough.
