found a set of ford racing 3.73's on craigs list
For $40 suppossedly new. Does this seem strange to anyone else? I'm going to go take a look at them saturday because its close by to where I live, is there anything I should look for? Scrapes, scratches, etc. Any help is appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Endrance

WOW!
That is obviouslly a GREAT deal if they are new. As mentioned, I'm pretty sure you'll know if they are actually brand new or not. If new, buy them.
I would ask for some details on how he acquired them and why he is not going to use them. The price seems a little too good and raises a tiny bit of skepticism with me.

If you can mistake a set of stock gears with a load of miles (3.08s or 3.27s) for brand new gears , you fail at life honestly.

If you are skeptical about the ratio;
it is easy to simply count the teeth on the ring and the pinion, and then do the division to get the exact ratio (ring count divided by pinion count).
I would still try to pin the guy down on where he got them and why he doesn't plan to use them himself. If all seems good, BUY THEM. It is a great deal.
