Default found a set of ford racing 3.73's on craigs list

For $40 suppossedly new. Does this seem strange to anyone else? I'm going to go take a look at them saturday because its close by to where I live, is there anything I should look for? Scrapes, scratches, etc. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
Endrance

WOW!
That is obviouslly a GREAT deal if they are new. As mentioned, I'm pretty sure you'll know if they are actually brand new or not. If new, buy them.

I would ask for some details on how he acquired them and why he is not going to use them. The price seems a little too good and raises a tiny bit of skepticism with me.

I say stolen. Also you want the casting number off of them make sure they are what he says they are and not his old 3.31 or 3.27 gears that he swapped out.

3.73's should have a 11 41 on them or even 3 73.

If you can mistake a set of stock gears with a load of miles (3.08s or 3.27s) for brand new gears , you fail at life honestly.

If you are skeptical about the ratio;
it is easy to simply count the teeth on the ring and the pinion, and then do the division to get the exact ratio (ring count divided by pinion count).

I would still try to pin the guy down on where he got them and why he doesn't plan to use them himself. If all seems good, BUY THEM. It is a great deal.
