I use a transfer pump and just fill it through the fill hole as well, less hasle to me than pulling the shifter, scraping gasket and re-sealing. I been running Royal Purple ATF with good results and my tans takes a beating and my power output is far past the t45s power threshold.

Yup, this is why I strongly recommend the rubber gaskets for the shifters. You can remove and install the shifter quickly as many times as you want with the gaskets vs sealer. Of course, if the original shifter is still in place, it is not really worth pulling the shifter to fill with fluid.
CLIFFY's suggestion of using a long hose and funnel works real easy also. I have done this myself and it was a good method.

If I happened to have the shifter off I would use it as an opportunity to change the tranny fluid and definitely dump it in through the turret--OTH if just changing the fluid I prefer the "long hose" method to pulling apart the interior...

I went with penzoil synchromesh after alot of thought. Was so close to using royal purple. So far the synchromesh helped my hard to get into reverse problem and slightly helped the notchy 1st to 2nd feel.

M1 ATF will help more--try it next time 'round...

Cool, thought about mobil 1 cause that's the oil I use in the engine and I have no complaints . There was a split in opinion on royal purple, atf and synchcromesh so I just went with the synchromesh.

I concur, from all the guys I know that tried the Syncromesh, you will get better results from Mobil1 vs the fluid you are running.

Let us know if you swap it out and what you think.
This is an on-going topic of great interest to a lot of guys.

Doing this tomorrow, I grabbed Amsoil ATF just because it was the first one I found on the shelf. I actually didn't see mobil 1 ATF at O'Reilley. Hoping the shifts become a lot smoother, the car is just over 60,000 miles and I doubt the previous owner ever did it.
