Engine rebuild

Engine rebuild
I've never rebuilt an engine but I do have moderate mechanical skills. After getting it bored out and buying a rebuild kit you think I could get it done in 4 days? I probably wont do many performance mods, I might give it a slight cam and spring upgrade but other than that everything else would be stock. While I have the engine pulled I would probably replace the clutch.
Could all this be done in a week by myself you think?
I don't have a Gt yet but I'm thinking about just buying a 99-04 4.6 with about 120,000 miles. In Texas those can be swooped up for $3000-$4000.
Do yall recomend that?

IF you prefer a 99-04 car, then just do that. No sense in spending money on something when you really want something else. However if you do a rebuild on your current car, atleast make it worth while and put pi heads and intake manifold on it.

I'd have to agree with ddmsgtr1 on this one. I wouldn't think you'd need an immediate rebuild. However, if you do decide to do it yourself, can be done fairly quickly. I've put long blocks in start to finish in a day.

Well I'm moving out to college this fall and will be living in an apartment. But I wouldn't really be able to work on my car because my college is 4 hours away from home. I just thought it might be easier to rebuild it now during the summer while I have a garage so I don't have to worry about it in 4 years.

I mean does this sound like a Semi-smart thing to do? My parents think it's a dumb choice. But i think it would also be a good learning experience especially since I'm majoring in Mechanical engineering.
