What have your stock 5 speeds held up too? Building this auto is looking very expensive, and an auto will NEVER be as much fun as a 5 speed, so I'm curious as to what yours has gone through? Launches, missed gears, no-lift shifts etc!

For a ~600 rebuild kit, a J-MOD valve body and an $80 transmission cooler you can have a 4R70W that handles 700-800RWHP. They are good for 400-500RWHP from the factory and some push them past that. Mine has never missed a shift or given me trouble.

If you want a manual to handle that power youl need to shell out ~2000-2500 for a Magnum spec T-56. T-56s are awesome but it will cost.

Hangwire, what are your power numbers with your auto? How is the Jmod? With a converter, and VB It's going to cost some cash as is.

Buy a low mileage 4r75w and enjoy. They hold up very well in stock form plus with a j-mod it will help longevity. Make sure you replace the spiral snap ring if revving past 6k.

My 5spd hasnt held up to crap. I've broken more than I can count. Just dropped 1200$ at t45source and they built my original broken one. Hope this one hold ups

When I purchased my car it had 116k on in back in 2004, the t45 in my car now is the same one that was in my car when I purchased it, the car has seen well over 150 track passes, globs of abuse, 4th gear brakestands, you name it. My odometer reads 150k now, and keep in mind alot of this abuse was supercharged at 420 horse. The trans still doesn't miss a beat hits all the gears and never grinds or pops out. Granted I don't know if its the original trans or it was replaced before I bought the car but for a t45 this SOB has held up way beyond expectations.

Justin, mine has held up fine. My stock clutch was slipping so I moved to the CF DF as you know. After 35,000 miles of DD with the S/C and driven hard no issues to speak of. Not sure what is going to happen after my build, but only time will tell.

150+ track passes most on slicks probably 50 on at least a 100 shot launching at 4,500-5,000. The synchros for 2nd and 3rd are just now starting to go.
