I'm wanting to get some new wheels for my stang, I'd like to stay away from low profile as a new set every 12K miles isn't very appealing. Any sets of tires out there that loll pretty good with rims and withstand 40-50K?

You will most likely need to go with a thinner tire and one with a lower speed rating to get that kind of mileage from them. Seeing that you have a GT you can pretty much kiss your traction goodbye.

Even getting a lower profile tire with a higher tread rating and regular maintenance you should far exceed 12k miles.

I use wood for my wheels, stuff last forever, plus they make a great source of heat when you get new ones

The real question is what kind of crappy low profile tires only last 12,000 miles if driven under 'normal' circumstances?

Just for the record, "low profile" has nothing to do with tire wear.
Any good quality tire in the stock size on stock wheels should last you just fine on the street.

If you really want big cushy tires, find some stock V6 16" rims and enjoy.

The OP is looking for tires to last 50-60k miles. That's a lot of miles for a sports car tire.

I need those tires. I drive my car, what 5-6 thousand miles a year. I can keep those tires for 10 years? Who sells them? I'm thinking Lowes or Home Depot!
