Default Max Power of an N/A 3V 4.6l?

I was thinking about just building the 3V on an 06 for a while. I was wondering, if you do up the motor with, say, Livernois Stg 2 heads, Crane cams (Stg 2 or 3), and all of the obvious bolt ons, with some dyno tuning, how much power can be made? Is 375RWHP out of the question, or is that an attainable goal? Also, how much could doing that cost, people are trying to tell me it will cost $15000, but somehow i don't see how, the heads, being the most expensive mods are $1700. I was thinking instead of putting on a blower, just do this, and get a Zex kit and spray for the times i am at the strip, but when i want to just drive it without it going crazy everywhere, having a built motor pushing over 400 at the flywheel. Is this an attainable goal, or am i just dreaming?

I dont think your dreaming, and I believe 375rwhp is about what you would get with all bolt ons with heads and cams. The 3v responds better to mods than the 2v and guys with full bolt ons with heads and cams on 2v's are getting between 300-325rwhp depending on the tuning and stages of cams. With the 3v your already ahead 40hp and with say the C&L intake and SCT tune which on a 2v would net you maybe 8-10rwhp, but on the 3v its usually about 20rwhp. The price I would think we be about $10,000 at the most, with the heads being the most expensive along with headers because of the price and price of installation, unless your doing it yourself. Good luck and I do hope to see 375rwhp.

Thanks for the quick reply.

Installation costs are not a big concern, since i have a few mechanic buddies (really good with the 4.6) who said they would help me with it. If there are no labor costs, would i be able to keep it under the cost of a supercharger (i am figuring that would be at least $6K with an intercooler and such)? Intake and exhaust are not a concern, those are already installed. To make that kind of power, what type of mods would be needed, heads, cams, underdrive pullies, electric water pump, there really isn't much else besides a good dyno tune is there? At first i wanted a blower, but i thought this might be a better set up if i get a Zex kit and just use that at the strip, since this will be for the most part a car built for road racing, so i figure 375 rwhp will be plenty.

I'm not really the bright when it comes to the 3v's, I just bought mine 2 days ago and have had a 2v for about 2 years, so I'm not sure about the 3v's just yet. I would say this list is about what you'd need:

catback or axleback - $400-700 depending on brand
midpipe - $200-500 depending on brand and if you get an o/r one or one with cats
headers - $400-1000 depending on brand and if you get shorties or long tubes
intake - $300-600 depending on brand and if you get the inlet elbow and SCT or Diablo tuner
throttle body -$250-500 this is just an estimate because I'm not to sure about the 3v's
underdrive pulleys - $200-300
cams - $500-1000 depending on stages and if you need valve springs
heads - $1200-2000 depending on stage and what brand

This adds up between $3500-6500 depending on what stage cams and what brands of parts you get. I'd say lean more towards $6000 or alittle more especially if you want to get close to 375rwhp. I'd say that nitrous or supercharger would be the easiest and cheapest way to get to 375rwhp, but I like your idea of N/A. I was thinking of going N/A with my 2v, but I just cant see spending all that money and only making no more than 325rwhp, when I could spend $3000-4000 and make close to 400rwhp. 2v's and 3v's both like boost because of their compression, so if you wanna spend the money for N/A go ahead and have fun and I think it will be badass, but if you want power and speed faster and cheaper, go with nitrous or S/C.

That is what i am planning on doing, i am trying to make a good amount of N/A power, and then have a nitrous kit, maybe a 125 shot or so for the drag strip. I will run my car on track days though, and i worry that a supercharger will be no good on a track since they heat up so quickly. The car already has intake and exhaust done, so i would be able to do the N/A + Nitrous cheaper than a Procharger. For me it is also hard to spend that much and not make a whole bunch of power, but for my application i am wondering if it might be the better thing to do.

Blow by racing had one with Heads cams longtubes cold air intake full exhaust. It put down 406rwhp but cant be street drivin cuz you need a kenne bell boost-a-pump and bigger injectors. So ya 375rwhp is not out of question by no means.

So why dont they just add bigger injectors and the boost-a-pump? There is no reason why the car cant be street driven.

It seems like heads are the biggest think to make a lot of power. I heard the Livernois Stg 2 heads put down 350RWHP in an '05, how much are these heads? If they are like $1700 or so, then the total build wouldn't be more than an S/C, if you figure the only difference would be instead of the heads and the nitrous, there would be a supercharger. It seems for racing a N/A set-up would be best, is my line of thinking correct?

http://www.livernoismotorsports.com/...t.phtml?p=1349

Go to their site. roughly 1700 plus 800 core charge you would get back as long as you sent your old ones back
