Congrats on the Whipple purchase and welcome to the crew! I also got the custom tune option. The tune is from Jon Lund. I started with the 12 psi (3.125") pulley and went to a Reichard Racing 3.30" pulley to lower the boost and eventually went back to the 3.125" pulley. There's a very noticeable difference between the two. I shouldn't have bothered lowering the boost. Just stick with the 12 psi pulley. It's a lot more fun.
2007CalSpec is there a built motor in the future for you or do you feel that the motor is safe enough at 12 PSI?
I don't have plans for a built motor although it would be nice to have one just so I can turn up the boost. Is 12psi safe? Let's just say I don't think Whipple would come out with this system and claim it'll run on a stock block if it was blowing them up left and right.
"The HO package pumps out an astonishing 492RWHP and over 470RWTRQ, all on 91-octane pump gas and a 100% stock engine! Youll make nearly 434RWTRQ at the hit of throttle with an instant 10-12lbs of boost, something turbo and centrifugal systems simply cannot do.
The FRPP tune is safe. Jon Lund told me the Lund Racing custom tuned option from Lethal Performance is basically a FRPP tune that's slightly modified by him for whatever mods you have on your car such as exhaust, cams, etc..
Thanks 2007CalSpec, I was just a little put off because as soon as I told most of my friends about the whipple, they all started saying 12 psi was to much and I was going to blow the motor. So sadly I let them throw me off a little. haha but I agree a built motor would be nice. Hopefully I don't end up needing one before I have plans for more boost
