Hurst shifter question
Hello. This is my first posting on here pertaining to my own Mustang.
Well actually I've posted here in the past about turbocharging a 4 banger Mustang I found in the classifieds but at the time didn't actually own a Mustang.
I've owned several Fords in the past but have never owned a Mustang until I got mine a few months ago. I still own my 68 Fairlane 500. I used to own a 96 Explorer 5.0 until my stepson borrowed it and I never got it back and wanted to buy it. Don't know if an Australian built 1991 Mercury Capri counts since it was mostly a reskinned Mazda 323.
Anyway my Mustang is a 2008 GT. Blue, factory rear spoiler and hood scoop, 5 speed.
I'd like the feel of the stock shifter but hate it's looks. I love the looks of the Hurst shifter but I'm wondering if it's possible to just swap out the lever and shift **** (not the whole unit). Any chance a Hurst lever (or something similar) would bolt to the stock shifter? I'm sure with some mods anything is possible.

No the shifter and linkage is all one unit, the only thing you can do this change the shifter ****.
The hurst looks great, I had one for about a month, didn't like the way it shifted at the track very notchie.

I'm really beating up on Hurst today (posted negatively on another thread too) but the Hurst REALLY sucks compared to the MGW. In fact, I'd say the factory shifter is a little better than the Hurst.
When I had the MGW I bought a jam nut boot adapter from grabberpony and added a resin **** (similar to the Hurst but black). It actually looked better than the Hurst IMO.

I have the Hurst in my gt, personally I like it alot. Best looking IMO, but have heard alot of goods things about the MGW! The Hurst is very notchy but extremely short and kinda fun to drive, it clicks into gear with a snap.

Hurst Shifter
I installed a complete shifter in my 06 and could not be happier! Gone is all the slop from the factory shifter. The Gates are tight and the throws are short! You have to get use to it but I love it! And IT LOOKS GREAT!

Well I finally got me a Hurst shifter for my '08 GT. My wife got it for me for Christmas and I finally got around to installing it yesterday. I absolutley love it!
At first it was a bit hard to shift but after 20 miles it has loosened up. What I like about it over the stock shifter is the shift lever/**** is higher rather than being buried down into the console. To me this just puts the lever at a more comfortable position.
I would have been happy if I could have just swapped out the lever but as mentioned it's not interchangable with the stock shifter.
