s197 Transmission Cooler?

First thing you need to do is make sure your full of fluid. They do lose fluid and without a dipstick you cannot tell if its low.
I drag race my car every month and it stays below 180 even hot lapping it. That cooler is cheap so for $89 it might be a decent mod.

No I mean trans oil. While they are sealed you can and do lose fluid. When the trans oil gets hot it will vent into the bell housing. My car did this so I installed a trans catch can to collect the fluid. Its a must have if you have a blower and or race your car.

So those times my tranny was extra hot it could have been venting into the bell housing and then leaking onto the road and I would have never known? When this happened to you did you notice the center console extra warm and were some downshifts clunky?
Also do you know of there is a stock trans cooler?

From Mishimoto website on performance radiator:
This item is for Manual Transmission vehicles. For automatic applications, please purchase optional Mishimoto transmission cooler (P/N: MMTC-U)
leads me to believe the autos come with a trans cooler built in.

Auto's come with a trans cooler built in. I know because I ordered a trans cooler when I was replacing my wounded stock transmission. When my mechanic went under the car to install it, he came across the stock cooler, wedged between the radiator, and A/C condenser. Funny thing is, it's actually bigger than the mishimoto unit. I just let him keep the mishimoto cooler for himself for any future project he came across.
I honestly didn't know the thing existed. Kind of deceptive marketing by americanmuscle putting that trans cooler in the 05-09 mustang catalog...
