Best MPG for your Mustang?
I recently made a long trip from North Carolina to Michigan to visit some friends. On they way there my 2005 GT got 23.5 mpg and on the way back it got 24.5 mpg.... I thought that was awesome and was wondering what's the best you guys have had.
BTW its a 5 speed and mods I have are AFE cold air intake and Pypes axel back muffler delete system. No tunes

This has been beaten to death. There are so many variables. I could drive your car and get much better or much worse mileage on that same trip.
I can average 27 MPG pump-to-pump, hand calculated if I stay at a steady 55-60 MPH. At steady 70 MPH I get 23-24 MPG. But again, that can change drastically due to the ethanol content of the fuel in addition to a dozen or more other variables.

I drove the Stang 800 + miles roundtrip every 2 weekends for almost 1 1/2 years; same stretch of road and same gas stations; so I have a lot of data. The variances surprised me despite driving the same manner.
Fuel mileage is an average and like everything, the more data the more accurate that value becomes. I scoff when people think they know their average fuel mileage in anything under a few dozen fill-ups from at least 1/2 empty.

Couldn't imagine driving 800 miles every other weekend, my trip was roughly 1500 round trip ... I have had mine for about 1.5 years and this was by far the best mpg I've got so far ... I thought mine would be like fluke didn't expect so many responses higher than mine

The 4.6L is a gas miser for a V8 providing you're not accelerating hard, stopping for as few traffic lights/stop signs as possible and keeping her cruising at or below 1800 RPM. Fuel consumption goes up significantly and non-linear above 1800 RPM.
