Installed 3500 TCI Stall, do i need to retune?
Hey Guys,
i just installed a few new mods; TCI 3500 torque converter, lca's, uca, dynotech one piece driveshaft.
Do i need to retune because of the stall or driveshaft?
I actually already ordered a new tune already from brenspeed, but i never asked if it would be necessary. However i've not received it yet and am going to the track tomorrow.
If necessary are there any changes i can make myself using the sct xcal?

No tune necessary for the converter, unless they are able to command lock up in 2nd gear or rpm wise. Not sure if the TCM controls lock up or if it's in the PCM but I'd make sure to check it out to lock it up so it's not slipping all over the place around town, part throttle.

What's up OutcelTj?
how's your ride coming along?
As far as the torque converters, they are the best mod for an auto trans car. Really wakes it up off the line.
Not sure how lock up is controlled on the 5R55S, but I'd look into it and make sure it locks up in 2nd gear on up, or it'll feel very loose around town. I recently had a 3200 and 3500 stall on both of my last cars. One was locked up in 2nd gear on up, and the other wasn't. Both were very loose on part throttle, until I used a special TCM to lock it up.

A good trans tune, with adjustments for the lockup, will give you the most out of your converter. It's not absolutely necessary, you can run fine without it but it will give you better performance.

Do i need to ask for "lockup" when i request the tune or will the tune include this?
I was at the dragstrip this weekend to test my new parts which besides the TCI 3500 include a dynotech driveshaft and BMW lca's and uca.
I was hoping to be able to launch at atleast 3300rpm however the converter only kept the tires from turning till about 2800rpm.
I found some articles about flash stalling the converter which from what i've read is basically just flooring it from idle at the green light. I'm testing this method next weekend but which method are you guys who have stalls using at the strip?

Hey stealth, the ride is coming along nicely. I haven't really done a whole lot. Just a dynotech DS and some swaybars. Im getting all the parts for a B302 build which I have all the miscellaneous stuff that I need. Right now im just waiting for brenspeed to get the b302 back in stock. I think they are negotiating new pricing before they get them in stock which means price is probably going up. Oh well. Im gonna put 3.0 pulley on it which I think gives me about 13.5lbs of boost.
How is your ride coming along???
