Adapting CAI to stock airbox
I have a C&L Racer intake in my car but as we all know CAI's are anything but. They just suck in hot air from inside the engine bay, so I was thinking of keeping the intake tube and maf housing from the C&L and adapting them to the stock airbox, which has a K&N filter in it. I'm guessing since I'm keeping the C&L maf housing I won't need to retune. Has anyone tried it and if so, have you noticed any improvement/loss?
I have Torque running on an android tablet on my dash, and at idle the intake temperature is far higher than ambient. Only after the car picks up speed do the temperatures start to drop until they are both equal, but that's only at highway speeds, anything lower and the intake temperature starts to climb.
This is my setup, I usually run my track apps on it but on the street |I either run Waze or Torque
