Default Need help with 90 4cyl

Ok so i went and picked up a 90 Hatch for my girlfriend last night. Ran great when we test drove it. I trailered it home because we didn't have tags or insurance on it yet. I take it off of the trailer this morning, it starts right up. Let it run a little bit to warm up. Took it down the road and now it wants to sputter. When it's in park you take it to 3k and it starts to sputter, then floor it and it responds good. What could it be? I can't have her driving it with it sputtering up the road. Anyone have any ideas? I don't know anything about these 4cyl yet. I'm used to working on my 90 5.0.

Read the codes on it. Same method as the 5.0 and same codes mean same thing. Like done on 5.0 check for good spark. PS welcome Maurice

That what I was wondering. I'm going to check the plugs today and see how old they look. It only sputters when you're in park holding it aroung 3k or when you're driving down the road cruizing. When you give it more gas it clears right up.

I pulled a couple codes on it this morning. code 24 which my book says is a Air Charge Temperature Low, code 77 which my book says is Throttle "goose" Test Not Performed, and code 41 Lean Fuel Mixture. All of these codes were while the car was running. So what should I narrow it down to?

Would this be caused by the o2 sensor?

24 could also be coil #1 primary circuit failure

and 77 is operator error durring dynamic response test/wide open throttle not sensed

mine was doing the same thing and it ended up being the EGR Valve regulator. i think the EGR valve usually tries to open at around 3k when the car is in park and then closes around 4k. if the stuttering is in that range, i'd suspect it.

but i'm no expert, so i'd see what other guys have to say.
