Default Radiator Fan DEATH

So my radiator fan died and started smoking. Disconnected it and have been watching the temp as i drive so that it wont overheat at red lights and such.

The temperature was always really low on this car, and now without the fan it warms up niceley. Could it be that the temperature switch that controlled the fan as stuck on 'always on' ?

that is my guess on why it was always running cool and y the fan burnt out. any ideas?

and i just bought the racer walsh longtube header too! they said it will get here tomorrow

Hi,

What year is your 4 cylinder Mustang?

I have a 93 and i do not have a coolant temp switch. I have a ECT (coolant sender) thats located in one of the heater hose lines in a fitting. My fans are controlled via that sender and the IRCM located on the Passenger side strut.

Get an aftermarket fan control kit. It should come with a temp sender, wiring and a relay. Wire it up to go on around 210-220*

I Just replaced my fam for the summer as a i drove all winter without a fan as it would growl like a bitch because the motor was blown. But i read somewhere that the ecu controls the fan when your at a certain speed they come off and when your sitting it turns back on. I read that it took a input from the vss which i dont understand unless the two wire plug is the wires for that. Im just confused because i dont know how it is actually controlled and it comes on with key on.
