I am very comfortable with what he told me. Do I agree with it, no, but I barely got it out of my mouth, and he told me immediately why it was not painted. He did explain in detail too. I am forgetting some of it because I had Warranty on my other ear, and the warranty guy was asking for my VIN# etc. I wanted to see what both said. The regional guy knew his stuff.

Also, I just did a search on Ebay to look at some pics of 2006 GT's. I can tell you that all GT's have the hood painted underneath form Ford. That meansSaleen actually painted mine black. If you read up on the Saleen documentation, they require a certain color from Ford first to then paint the car a custom color. The color when doing Lizstick red was some kind of Ford red first.

This means they painted it Black under there. He did say the paint is extremely expensive, and it is like a 4 step process. I am sure if they do a lot of them, just one coating it with Black saves them a a decent amount of money on supplies, but much more in Labor. Let's not forget a hood would take a nice bit of paint. I am no painter, but it does have a lot of surface area.

It might just be that black is the base coat for Lizstick and so they painted the entire car black and then did the 4 step process on everything else.

I found the document, and so it does. The only problem is that that my Liztick Red car was Grabber Orange when Ford delivered it. Maybe they changed things for the 2007 model year.

I'm not sure why the Ford color would matter one way or the other, really. When I said "the base for Liztick Red is silver", I meant the car is initially painted with a silver base coat, not that they require a silver factory paint job.
