I saw a 2015 Mustang Gt 5.0 auto Premium just today for $35,751. It has black perforated leather seats and beautiful ruby red metallic paint with 20 inch wheels with Summer High Performance Pirelli P Zero tires. I really like the way the 20 inch wheels compliment this car. Car is mostly going to be used for street with maybe 1-3x a year beginner hpde and "road racing". I have read that the 18 inch wheels and a little less so, 19 inch wheels are better for performance, handling and 20 inch wheels are more for looks. Weird because all of the Steeda wheels, Roush Wheels, Shelby Wheels and Saleen Wheels are all 20 inch wheels. So what gives? I am interested in adding just the Ford Racing Handling Package that would compliment the 20 inch wheels without it looking silly and handle better without a too harsh ride on the street. The two package that Ford Racing offers is the Street Handling Package and the Track Performance Package. Only thing that appears to be different between the two packages is the Ford Racing springs, I believe X and Y springs, I assume the X springs are firmer, they are offered with the track package. Need some help. Ger.

 

I have the optional 20" wheels and love the looks of them but from a performance standpoint they're not the greatest.

 

Just go buy the Corvette, you won't need to buy no extra parts, done just drive it.
Back seats on Mustangs are almost useless, unless the kids are so small they are in a car seat, and if they are in car seats, getting them into them will be a pain.

 

If you're taking it to the track, skip the 20" wheels. If you'll be spending 98% of the time in it as a daily, get the 20" wheels.

I'm not sure why Ford doesn't offer the most popular style wheels in 18" wheels with 50R radials for people that want a nice looking wheel with a good ride. It seems everything is made for young adults that are in to the latest style whether practical or not. I'm behind young people getting the wheels that are "cool" for just a few years, but Ford should allow more choice that want a good ride & a more classical look. How big a deal is it to put different wheels on a Mustang when they are charging you a premium for it anyhow.

 

The 20s look nice but when you park a car with 20s next to a car with the stock 18s it's really not a mind blowing difference. I went with 18s because I knew I'd drag race the car.

 

Why are the 18's better for drag racing than the 20's?

That's the reason Ford uses 18" wheels on their Boss 302 race cars.
