Default CAI + Lots of Rain = ???

Its been raining here in CT SOOO MUCH lately, and I just put my CAI in my car (fender-mounted)
I know they suck up water from rain/puddles which isnt good...
What happens when you get water in the intake? And how can you fix it?

im in MA and its been pouring here non stop 4+ days straight. tons of flooding cause im on the coast.

i just started my 93 up for the first time in 2 days and it had a little hesitation starting. i think the massive amounts of rain had something to do with it, plus it sitting, and having 153k miles but it never gave me a problem before.

avoid puddles and you will be fine but personaly with all this rain and mud, my stang is staying parked [:@]

Yeah dude! SAME HERE, and it isnt gonna stop...rain is in the forecast for the next week, every single damn day! I'm just worried about the CAI, cuz all the roads have huge puddles on the sides of them.

I really don't think a puddle is going to harm your motor, unless it is deep enough to completely submerge the CAI. At least that's what I learned when dealing with imports.

Yeah..
I read a while ago that the CAI mounted on the fender sucks in air through the bottom of the fender, and when you go through puddles, the wheels spray water up, where it then gets sucks in by the CAI

LOL! you guys are girls, complaing of 4+ days of rain. i live in Washington, i believe we broke our record for 27 days of rain this year. so if your complaining about 4+ days think about others who endured almost a full month of rain =P plus i was working out in it.

Oh, no doubt is sucks up water. But not nearly enough to hydrolock the motor--unless you like wading the car through creeks and such. I did a lot of research on the subject a few years back, and that's what I came up with. Take it with a grain of salt.

That water that splashes up there just gets caught in the filter and it drys out. The only way to hydrolock your motor is to go through water thats about 2 and 1/2 feet deep. If you do that your just asking for trouble.
