13.2 is FAST for any car that is running 2.73 gears, especially when you figure that most cars run in the 13's with 3.73 even though the driver will claim its in the 12's when there away from the track!!
Agreed and I guess it's easy for me to claim 12.6 without video to back it up. I have the video, I just have to find it, I was lucky to find this one!

Considering the gearing it moved out very nicely and shows how well the 5.0 when built right can make great power! Those GT40 heads were fantastic as well, great combo with the E cam and intake. It made power to 6400rpm which was 500 more rpm than stock, Ford built a great block, that 306 cost me less than $400.00.

Just remember this, people throw away good money by upgrading the electronics on the '85. All I did was replace the coil with a good replacement, the distributor was bone stock. Pay attention to the details, run an electric fuel pump of good quality, don't over-carb it, jet it right and match the parts. I by-passed the power steering and ran a short belt, ran electric fans and all of this helped not only ET but MPH as well.

I'll lay odds my '06 in its current form puts out 45 more hp than my '85 did in that run but the '85 weighs a lot less. Plus, those 5.0's are so damn easy to work on! Good luck!

It was a very good year, what I don't get is why the historians consider the '86 the first year for forged internals, for headers etc.... 1985 was the first year for these items and '86 was the first year for true duals. How hard is it to get the facts right?
a lot of parts guys don't mention the 85's headers since they are unique to the 85....only JBA makes headers for them

That's because in '86 they used crappy swirl port heads, if anything they should say Ford skipped a year in '86. Thankfully the engine still put out enough torque. But headers from an '85 are still headers. Headers made for an 87 and up 5.0 WILL work just fine for an '85.

Also, since hardly anybody uses the stock '85 heads and Gt40 etc.... heads fit any 5.0 of that generation headers are interchangable.
