Default spool or lim. slip differential???

im going to build my rear better when i finish my motor and paint. i want it prolly 70/30, drag/everyday driver. should i get a spool to be safe and sac some driveability? or just get a gear differential. if not a spool, what differential would give me the best traction performance. i want 31 spline axles. just some good ole opinions guys! thanks..

Spools are obviously MUCH cheaper than say an Auburn Pro Posi unit. A spool can be street driven as long as you don't get crazy while turning...add skinnys up front and it will push really hard...but so will a tight locker.

im going to run my 18x9 on the front, 18z10 on the back with d/rads. and yup, spool is alot cheaper. but will it kill driveability? or not be too bad?

Itll be fine if you dont mind the screech, screech, screech, screech when making a turn. My buddies truck has a fully locked differntial in it and it hops going around a corner.. he said it didnt bug him, so if you want a spool go for it, but im sure it would get annoying after a while.

Get a Detroit locker, best of both worlds. For a street car I'd say a spool is off limits.

when i get my truck it wont see rain or weekdas hardly. i like to drive it but im going to take it easy on her from now on. if they really affect drivability that bad im prolly gonna pass the spool up. so whats up with the detroit locker? will it take alot of punishment? and still streetable?

2 words "selectable locker"... you can do air or electric or even cable actuated. They work great.

I've had them in front ends of rock crawlers for a long time and they are the best of both worlds. You get an ELocker and they are limited slip until push a button then full spool.
