your clutchs are probably fried together. check your fluid level, check the color too. it should be red, but it it ok if it is dark, just as long as it doesnt smell burnt(yes i want you to smell it). if it smells like something is burnt, then you need a rebuild. may i suggest a bigger stall converter and a shift kit. along with all new clutches and seals.</P>

I could and probably am wrong. But, have you considered the low and reverse band adjustment? I guess it really depends on the type of transmission you have. It is only another possibility. What does it do when you put it in reverse? After approx 15,000 miles I hear that you may have to adjust them. I had a similar problem with a C-4 and had to get it rebuilt. I just happened across this post so I don't exactly what you have in the car. Once again, this is only a possibility.

My '93 5.0 started doing that one day. I have the AOD. If I started out in drive it would be o.k. But if I went to OD and tried to accelerate, it would slip like crazy, as it did when I tried to start off in OD.
Turned out the c-clip popped off the linkage just under the throttle cable below the TB. I put in a new rubber grommet on the TB, re-attached the linkage and put on a new c-clip, sprayed the whole mess with wd40 and the problem was solved. Got the grommets and c-clips from my local parts store, and keep spares on hand.
