Default Vibration

I recently bought a 91 GT and it vibrates at higher rpms. When i rev the tranny in nuetral, clutch out, it vibrates. When i am accelerating hard it also vibrates. I'd like to hear what you all think. I may go to the junkyard tomorrow to get some parts. I think i will try the harmonic balancer and flywheel first, depends on the price of these parts though.

I think that's your problem. You should never rev the tranny in neutral.

But seriously, sounds like your HB. I'll be replacing mine soon too.

What's wrong with reving the tranny in nuetral? Sometimes it needs to be double clutched to downshift smoother.

My whole car shakes, it doesnt rattle, it's a little more violent. The HB sounds like a good start though. My friend has tools to remove them.

It just sounded funny to me. Let us know how the new HB effects the problem. I'm curious.

well my car shakes bad but its just in the wheel

it stops at some weird speeds though

at 65 the wheel shakes violently but at 85 its smooth sailing

so many things that it could be but im just assuming the tires are unbalanced

I responded to this very question just rescently here on these boards... If it vibrates in neutral as well as while driving, look behind your harmonic balancer and see if even a sliver of your damper is pertruding out. 5.0's are notorious for going through harmonic balancers like Joan Rivers go through Botox...

Fluid dampeners ftw.

Personally I say take it to a shop and have it checked out and let them quote you on repairs, that way their's no guess work, you'll know what's wrong and how to fix it.
