RE: Where is the Motor Serial Number located?
well the serial number is your VIN#
There should be one on the dash
and one in the motor compartment, think near the firewall
One in the back fender
One in the door
And on the frame

ok what if your motor isn't the stock, is it still the same as your VIN #?
Also the reason I need the Serial Number is because I need to know the firing sequence so I can put the sparkplug wires on right... So does anyone know a site where I can enter the Serial number to get the right way of putting them on?

the firing order for a 5.0 H.O. engine is 1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8
a regular 5.0 is 1-5-4-2-6-3-7-8
there should be a mark on the distributor cap showing which one is the #1 wire.

try this for firing order and cap wire locations. this is from my '88 shop manual but I think the 83 has the same set up as this shows. use the 5.8L firing order for the 5.0 H.O. roller motor, the 5.0 firing order shown on this is for a standard 5.0, not the high output motor.

on a ford engine, 1,2,3,4 cylinders on on the passenger side with #1 nearest the radiator and 5,6,7,8 cylinders on the driver's side with #5 nearest the radiator just like the picture I posted shows. the other order you show is for GM engines.
