Default 5.0 HO need help

I have an 88 5.O HO and I am having a few problems with it. I was hoping that someone would be able to help me figure it out. It is surging at an idle and backfiring between shifting, and chugging when you take your foot of the gas. There was a massive lack of power to it, making it feel like a 4 cycl. I have had the converters bored out which brought back the power, but that wasn't the answer. I replaced the throttle positioning sensor, the timing is right on and the PSI is as well. Is there a big difference in the HP vs the HO, besides the cam and heads, also? Any imput would be wonderful. Thanks.

I checked out the link, and replaced the EGR. That wasn't the problem. It seems even worse, loss of power, and surges so bad, it acts as though it will stall out. Anymore avise would be great. Thanks for your help.

get a squirt bottle and fill it with water start your car and let it heat up then squirt the headers if it dosent burn the water off really fast means you got a dead cylinder. then try looking at those spark plugs and wires.

How bad is a dead cyl? It is more cost effective to replace the whole motor? Although at this rate I am slowly rebuilding it. I will do what you suggested and hopefully that won't be the problem. Now your scaring me. lol Thankyou

My '88 did the same thing, try the MAP sensor, that's what fixed my problem.
