i think i found the solution to my oil burning problem

Default i think i found the solution to my oil burning problem

well opened the hood yesterday and saw some smok comming from the right side of my intake!

could that be burning oil from something!?

i do have a tranny leak, its getting fixed sometime around monday, im thinking since its leaking its leaking onto my exhaust and comming up from my motor?

could be hittin your exhaust and smoke coming up that side. Shouldnt be comng from your intake tho.

haha i think i worded that wrong, its comming from the right side of my intake ( not FROM the intake) just the smoke is comming up on the right side of the intake ( in that area )

Haha, i get ya now. Might be comin from the valve cover, might have a bad seal. Maybe try tightening downt he bolts a bit, but if they are already pretty tight, i wouldnt torque on them too hard, dont wana snap anything.

young and learning! its my only car and it takes me to school and from work, so im scared to mess with it.

thats why im trying to buy a DD.

It's not that hard...there are only 6 bolts on each side. I don't know what size the stock bolts are b/c I'm running ARP, but there are 3 on the header side and 3 on the intake side. You can buy a new set of gaskets at the auto parts store for $10 (cork) or $30 (rubber w/ metal core). Get a Haynes or Chilton's and you should be fine.

If it is leaking from under your valve covers, you'll see it on the heads or headers. Since oil is designed to resist heat, it won't burn off completely and should leave some tell-tale signs of drippage.....

torque down in a star pattern to 10 ft lbs...
