just did a 5.0 swap into a toyota but is running ritch
k i have just recently swaped in a 87 5.0 speed density into my 85 toyota 4x4 but it is running realy rich and i cant get a datastream with the scaners or get any trubal codes. it will also have pulsating idals at time to the point that it will die and has hard startups if u dont push the gass a little bit
now a few questions i would like to ask to is what should there be for intake vacume at idle or how would i check if i got that right
next what temp are these suposed to run at
how can u tell if its on open or closed loop
and another thing some one told me that if u have a realy freeflowing exost that it would not creat enough heat for the o2 sensors to read.
witch leads to another question i got the o2sensors from a mass air t bird are they different and are the speed density o2 sensors heated or not
i now im a bit of a newb and this is alot to ask but im at my wits end to figure this out
thanks everyone in advance andrew

Have you checked the fuel pressure? Do you have vacuum to the fuel regulator?
Monitor data with a scanner and it will tell you open or closed loop.
If the scanner wont communicate you need to fix that first.
You may have missed something in the swap so go over basics.

the t bird that i got the sensors out off i couldnt tell u but it could varywell bee 94 and up and if so the heated ones will not work will they ?
now as for fule preshure it is at factory spec and i do have vacume goin to the fule preshure regulator and the scanner does comunicate but dosnt seen to comunicated fully like dosnt tell u open ore closed loop or give u a data stream but u can get codes witch its not throwing anything buy the scaner but who knows if its right or not.
have gone through and traced all of the diagnosis wires through right back to the computer and they do show conuity so there is no brakes in the wiring and have gone through all of the grounds and traced them to and they are all good.

the running rich could be your fuel pressure, or o2 sensors.
now the idle surging could be numerous things:
1.) your iac(idle air control module - $50 something bucks at autozone)
2.) bad vaccum leak
and to answer your loop question im not sure, a mustang reaches theirs at 180. not sure about a t-bird tho.

i dont know what the exact thing it should be set at they have a link somewheres on here, but you have to get a volt meter or w/e you call it where you have a negative & positive and u put it on the thing and itll read the voltage.
