RE: help me understand this stuff with exhaust
i like my headers and my X pipe... they barely have any rust on them and i DID drive around with them this winter. (i live in RI so we see a decent amount of snow)
As for the mac dumps... i like them , they are just really loud at 2200rpms which is my highway cruising speed. Once i get my gears installed it should be a little less noisy because i will be over their drone point.

RE: help me understand this stuff with exhaust
ok i understand everything BUT..
when i am looking for mid pipes all i see is FITS FULL LENGTH headers, so do you need certain ones to just fit the headers you have? or does some certain ones just fit the full length headers?

RE: help me understand this stuff with exhaust
If you get long tube headers you will have to get a shorter h pipe to compensate for the extra length of the header. You can tell right from the picture of the h pipe wether its for shorty headers or LT's. If its for LT's the whole mid pipe will be maybe 3-4 (max) long.

RE: help me understand this stuff with exhaust
why do you wanna get a catted pipe? just keep your stocker for when emissions time rolls around and bolt it back in
*edit*
get this one and save yourself $200

RE: help me understand this stuff with exhaust
i dont really know, i kinda dont want to go through with the headache and stuff. I'm not installing this stuff myself, this is my only car and im 17 and it takes me to work and school. I have no experience what so ever.
Thats why at the end of this school year im going to move to Florida with my dad who owns alot of chevelles and race cars, so i can learn more about stuff and get a better job.

RE: help me understand this stuff with exhaust
seriously? so nothing else holds it in place?
THANKS 88BLUE YOU SAID IT WAS ANNOYING!

just playing man, well wow i might just go with that then, and i just keep the stock one somewhere in my garage.
EDIT: Could i put this whole exhaust on myself? The exhaust system itself and the headers and mid pipe? Or is it a hard job for somebody with no experience?
All i have is jack stands and a hydraulic jack.

RE: help me understand this stuff with exhaust
thats exactly what i did. I can drop my mid pipe out in about 20 minutes... including jacking up the car, and getting the right tools together.
for me, it takes a 19mm deep socket on a long extension to reach the header flange bolts, and two 14mm sockets with 3/8" ratchets to unbolt the mufflers.
