Default RE: Speedometer Recalibration Gear 83-93

Hey guys,

I'm a new member here and I was wondering if i could get some help from you guys.

I'm going to buy a 1991 mustang GT hatchback, i give the down payment on the 18th and i wanted to see if you guys could help me out with an issue i'm having. The person who's selling it to me has 3.55 rear gears and he says that the car reads more mileage than it should. For example, if he's traveled 1 mile the car wil read 1.3 miles and so on, does anyone know why this is?

This is my first car and I'm a huge mustang fan and I really want this thing to be beautiful, I plan to make it real nice once I have it, if someone could answer that for me, i would really appreciate it.

Thanks guys

I have no idea what that means, lol.

Basically, the car has 3.55 rear end gears, the spedometer reads faster than it should when traveling, if you travel 1 mile, the speedometer reads 1.2,1.3 etc etc, it just reads higher, which gives me more mileage.. how can i fix that? or what is the problem?

Thanks alot guys , i'll be writing the specs on the car soon and maybe get a picture going

I don't think he was talking to you...but..to answer your question about your problem your speedo reads faster now because the speedo gear in your tranny is not calibrated for the new gears and so now it makes your speedometer read faster than what it really says.
Remember, your odometer works off the same cable as the speedo.
You need to find out the speedo gear your need now so that your speedometer is accurate again.
