Default Cobra Heads/GT-40s.. Thermator?

What's the deal with the Thermactor system and GT-40 heads? I've read that the GT-40P heads have thermactor provisions but the standard GT-40s don't. I have a chance to score some low miles '95 Cobra heads, but I want to make sure I'm getting the right stuff.

its actually the other way around i think... because the gt-40 heads were stock on a cobra, they have the thermactor system and even have the stupid restrictive bumps in the exhaust ports... if they are from a 5.0 stang... they will fit a 5.0 stang

I assume the bumps in the ports can be removed?

Well... I can snag 'em for $200... I'm counting on about $600-$700 in machine work. I should have a pretty serious set of low maintence iron heads for $800-$900... Seem like the way to go?

I shot him and email. We'll see what he comes back with. I'm just wondering where the 40's will stand vs the E7s when the same work is performed to each.

That's what I wanted to hear... Oddly enough, the guy I am trying to buy them from replaced them with AFR165s...
