Default Super alloy gear set for T-5

Ok, whats the story with these T-5 gear sets? I see them advertised but whats the advantage/disadvantage? I am putting down 340rwhp 350ft./lbs. of torque. I autocross my Cobra and rarely see the drag strip. I never powershift either. I would like to stay with the T-5 set up soley for cost reasons and the wife...lol. Anyone?

i think the t-5 Z would hold up fine. I just bought a brand new one for my stang. The super alloy gears are what they use plus improved synchros and bearings

If you aren't going to power shift then the stock T5 will be all you need. I am making more power than that and I ran a stock T5 power shifting for a long time. I changed to the better gears for the higher first gear ratio.

I have that kit in my transmission and it works great. If you have a big cam in your car I would suggest you get the aftermarket fifth that Astro sell to give you a .80 OD.

I have beenwondering the same thing, some say the high alloy are more prone to cracking than stock. Not sure if this is the case. The high alloy T5's are rated for more HP so why would companies use weaker gears?

just wait for lenny to get in here he will set you straight with what you need and the super alloy gears are stronger but are brittle at the same time and can shatter as he has told me and get the stock first gear trans 3.55 not the 2.73 or what ever it is

Go with Astro's he told me that kit will hold the power im going to put down to the wheels. 500+ As long as your not just running it down the track it'll be fine and thats all i needed to know. Plus good business and stand behind their product

3.55's and 2.73's are rear end ratios, you must be thinking 2.95 vs 3.35
