Default carbed or efi

ok so its getting to be the time where its nice out (summer i mean). i figured since my car is efi i have a choice to put some new stuff on it..
this is my current set up
306 with flatop pistons
.512 lift cam (custom ground)
mild porting on the heads
mild porting on the intake

this is what i could have
a 600 or 650 4 barrel carb ( not sure what kind or anything)
a eldelbrock performer intake
full msd kit, 6al, distributor, 11mm plugs

i figured that i would go with carb but i was wondering if it would just be better to stick with the efi.also my car has the aod with shift kit, i need a new aod because the 1st to 2nd gear is messed up a little bit and 3.73 gears.

Every one asks this question and here is my two cents. EFI is nice but very pricy. When you consider you have to buy injectors, meters, ect. Carb can be just as reliable when tuned right and some say it gives a little more hp. But it is nice to turn the key on an EFI car and it always starts up. So go with what you want, your going to regret it no matter what you decide lol. I have EFI and for the money I have in it carb would have save me a small fortune.

As long as you can tune on it I would say thats your best option. My brother in law has a notch with a carb motor and it is very reliable. It is his daily driver in the summer.

carb is the way to go. and the good thing is that if you want to supercharge it later, you can even do that and have a cool looking carb box! Kinda like whats on the Eleanor customs.

No way I will ever own a carb car again!

You can get a lot out of efi, if you know what to do. Finding the parts for cheap just takes more time...

my opinion,
jason

EDIT:
I am not convinced that CONVERTING to carb will be cheaper than efi.
Maybe if you were starting from scratch...

EFI and computers suck...i like carbs and manual fuel pumps...you can always fix those in a pinch...hell i even like breaker points as well.

I hategetting into these threads because we can go back and forth on this stuff all day.

I have never had my efi leave me stranded. The computer is really good at keeping the car running until you can get it serviced.
The computer will not leave you stranded if something goes wrong.
