ok just talked to my buddy who installed the plugs. He said he didnt check the gap and just put them in because they were supposed to be pregapped.

Or maybe they weren't tightened down enough??

I'll take one out tomorrow and check. I dont think there is anything wrong because I just got on the highway and punched it going about 15mph and once I caught traction at the top of second I was gone(no missing )

It dont matter how much fire u have or how much gap. Plug wires are at least double ins. or better. u should never see them leaking. That ticking in the coil is called arc-bridging, when the electrode doesnt touch the core.

I love it when a car can fix its own problems. If I can just train mine to do that.

alright... just checked again... ticking noise is gone and no light around the plugs.. just made sure they were seated on the plugs correctly. I also changed the coil wire which goes to the dist back to the old wire, which is different(ford racing), while the others are another brand. Previous owner probably replaced it when he replaced the coil.

thanks.. problem fixed

car pulls good all the way to redline and also no missing

but im still going to check the gaps tomorrow

8mm accel wires from orielly...

the wires are on good.. I am thinking the plugs are gapped incorrectly

I have a feeling my friend didnt gap them because he didnt care. Could the plugs not being gapped correctly cause this problem?? I know the wires arent causing the lighting now. I have had the missing since I owned the car and now it finally runs smooth and I can tell a big difference in performance.

What should I gap my plugs to??
The wires is your biggest problem in my opinion... I've sold a couple sets at work, even though i try to talk people out of them, and almost always someone has problems with them jumping spark. If you are set on keeping the wires, put some extra di-electric grease in the spark plug boot... But it in there pretty thick, this will keep the fire from coming out from around the boot... Gap, ignition type, etc has nothing to do with it... You have a set of ****ty wires and if they are only sparking to the head, then u can put the electrical grease on there and that should take care of the problem... Good luck
