Default Cheap Driveshaft???

I had heard once before when going through the junk yard to look for Ford Airostars (Don't remember the year) because some of them had aluminum driveshafts. I was wondering if anyone can back this up, knows what vans to look for,and if they were the right lenght already (Thinking not just because of the body lenght)...

Any help appreciated. Thanks guys

I would think that the areo star driveshaft would be to long. The stock one should hold up to 300hp easily with some beefed up u joints.

I'm not really worried about it holding up. I am thinking about having less rotaiting (Spelling??) weight, and thus picking up some more power at the wheels.

Length is not an issue. A good driveshaft shop can shorten and balance it.

I think it's a great idea if the u joint are big enough.

Did the same thing to my 87 Ram. It's a 5.9L 5 spd and I got a 4" aluminum driveshaft from a newer Dodge 1/2 van.

most crown vic. po po vehicles have alum shafts. But after having to cut them down, balance them, etc. Youre better off just buying one used from corral.net or ebay.

whats the stock length for fox body driveshafts? i ended up with an aluminum one from a buddy in the course of doing some work for him and he said it was for a fox stang but i dunno how to verify. i measured from u-joint hole to u-joint hole and at the closest points it was 44.5 inches and the yoke had 27 splines on it.

if someone knows the right specs please hit me up, i'd like to sell this thing - 100 bucks plus shipping and i'll post pics soon
