Default 70mm MAF 94/95...and VSS

I put one of these on my car when I did my converstion. What I need to know is how it needs to be clocked. Anyone have a picture of one installed? My car was running way rich, ran codes and I had a bad ACT, replaced that, not so rich anymore. Went to take it for a drive and it studdered as I gave it gas, but idles great and reves fine when I am in neutral, just not under load....would that be the lack of the VSS? I have one on the way, but I couldn't wait. I know I need it, but I was justy curios if that could cause this problem or if I should look inot something else.

You shouldn't need to clock it. Just install it in the same orientation as the stock meter.

Which computer are you using?
What injectors?

How much running time does the new computer have on it in your car?

I just converted, so I don't know where the stock meter would sit.

I am running a computer from a 92 5 speed (don't know numbers, it is a remanufactured computer from NAPA)
I have the 19lb injectors in it.

I don't really have any running time on the new computer...maybe 20 minutes.

Would the lack of a VSS cause these issues?

The stock MAF's were installed in the 10 oclock position. This means as your standing in front of the car facing the MAF the12 oclock position is straight up and 10 oclock would be slightly towards the passenger side. Though, I would just mount it straight up in the 12 oclock position as thisleans the rich factoryA/F ratioabit and may even give you a few more HP.

As for your other problem, I dont think the lack of a VSS would be thecause.

Ok, I went out tonight, reset the computer, started it and let it sit and idle for about 30 minutes. After that I took it for a quick spin and all was great, no studder anymore and it ran strong.I only have 2issues, right now, one is the lack of the VSS is causing my car to stall when I am comming to a stop after I push in the clutch(expected, and is how itwas described...no problem, new VSS and Plug on the way) Second problem is my car seems to run really rich still, blows black smoke out under acceleration. I have an AFPR, so maybe I just need to mess that some more. No codes so I should be alright.

What are suggestions aboutfixing the rich issue?

until you run your car and compare it against a wideband, you can not assume its running rich. Your car may not be reaching the full 160° temperature, or your temp sensor may have a dead spot in it... Remove the ECT and test it in a pot of water on the stove with a thermometer and a DVOM

Letting the car idle for a while allowed the 'Adaptive Strategy' of the computer to kick in and do some fine tuning. Not too surprising that it got better, that is somewhat expected.

The VSS should help the stalling out problem you described...

What do you have the AFPR set to? It should be 38psi with the vac line off the regulator.

I would run the car a little more and check codes again.
