Default mass air question

i just bought a 1989 mustang lx notch that was transplanted with a 5.0 it ran when i got it it seems to be done right and clean it didnt have oil pressure so i took it out and stroked it new aluminum heads bbk ssi intake 30lb inj 80mm throttle body , custom cam what concerens me is the car had no mass air sensor or wire where it should be. my question is does it need it or did someone not put the right harness in it . I assume it is a v8 harness due to the fact that it has 8 injector wires and it ran good any help would be great thanks

I suppose they could have converted the car to a 5.0 using Speed Density...

Check the catch code on the computer. The computer is behind the passenger side kickpanel.

That stroker of your must be making some serious horsepowerto need an 80mm throttle body. Must be a track only car.

Catch code should read A9L or A9P if it is a MAF computer. Not sure what an SD code might be though...

It will be 3-4 digits, and should be in larger text/bold text, when compared to everything else.

I think this was a conversation.. if some one took the cheap route and did and s/d you'll have some issue with that 80mm t/b which is huge and any off the shelve cam

8KC is the catch code. My cheat sheet lists this as a Speed Density ecu from a Auto T-Bird.
