i guess if your trying to keep something completely original - but even then i would prolly just put the stock carb in the closet and use another holley for driving.

http://www.flemworld.com/Hto/CMod.html

This might be a good website for anyone to check out with an 84 or 85 mustang with a carb. It has some interesting info.

Man, all you guys have experience and opinions on what I should do with the carb - thats NOT what I'm looking for [&:] So what if you think its a piece of crap or if it was recalled in 1985. Its 2007 and the car is still running fine without catching on fire. If the recall you are referring to is due to fuel line leading up to the carb, it has already been replaced with a stainless steel version, so I'm not worried.

Thanks to the one or two of you that provided answers to my question - however there is still one lingering question I would like to know for STOCK sake. Am I missing something under there that the vapor recovery hose should be connected to - like a recovery tank or something. If I opt to keepthe hose rather than plugging it, what should it be connected to?

Please don't tell me to replace the carb

it should be connected to a black charcoal box bolted to the frame rail buy the smog pump if its not there anymore oh well. and no the recall was not for the fuel line for what ever reason the secondaries will stick open and the car will take off on your thats why they recalled the carb

Ah hah!!! I remember that box now that you mention it - I always saw that thing on my Capri and wondered what it was. Thanks for clearing that up

I looked for something for the hose to connect to last night and didn't see anything so I'm guessing the box is gone. So I'll have to try to find one as I'm guessing this could be a big part of why I smell gas in the garage when I park the car. Its all starting to make some sense now.
