Default oilpan gasket

ok so my cars been leaking oil REALLY bad....about 3 quarts a day if not more..... so i was wonderin if there is anything i need to know to replace the oil pan gasket.....

can i ask how in the hell you are loosing 3 quarts a day from a oil pan gasket? is the damn thing still there?[&:]

the gasket got squeezed too hard and i guess it just popped out in two corners of the oil pan....

Well then ,I guess you have QUITE the oil pan leak lol. Yeah, it might be a good idea to jack up the motor a bit so you can clear the cross memeber. And I would also advise you to use the rubber one piece gasket instead of the ****ty corque one.

ive already got a new one piecemetal one with rubber on the outside..says it doesnt require sealant and that it is heavy duty...so yeah ...hoping this one will work..haha

i put mine on my friend's lift and we dropped down the k member to change it out. you either have to jack the motor up or drop the k member down, there's really no other wat to do it. its a b*tch, good luck.

It may so it doesnt require sealant but there was one of those in our car and it was leaking. I changed it our for a 4 peice on from Mr Gasket and siliconed it and I aint had any leaks out it it. All I had to do was lift the motor a little with a cherry picker so I could get my hands around the pan.

yeah i think ill probably use a wench to lift the motor up and all...how much is it safe to lift it?.... and what all should i disconnect?

lift until something feels like its binding, seriously.

you'll still need little dabs of permatex (i prefer ultra copper but pretty much any of them will work) on each side of the gasket where it meets up with the main cap/block and in the front in the same places.

at the least, do it on each side where i circled in red, even better would be a thin coat on each side everywhere circled in blue
