they're both limited slips diffs, your problem is that the clutches inside the lok have worn out

I think you are thinking of welding the spider gears. That's called a lincoln locker, illegal in any dragway you go toI believe. Though they would never be able to see it, but I've watched one break one time, looked pretty bad.The left rear axle/tire popped out and passed the car. It's the cheap way to do it, but its illegal for a reason. You can rebuild the trak-lok but they're worthless. You are going to be in there soon enough rebuilding it again. I would look into getting a detroit locker or a true-trac, depending on what suits your needs better.
