ya we've all been there, i raced a 96 gt 4.6liter and beat him by about a half a car length every time, however we might have ended up going 115 in a 35 lol

Sounds right on the money for an AOD / AODE. 3rd gear is those is a 1:1 ratio. With my 3.73s, I redline (5900 RPM) Right around 120 MPH give or take 1 MPH)

that made my day. I needed a laugh, jetta beating a 5.0, even if the 5.0 had a blown headgasket and was only firing on 7 of it's cylinders, it could beat all day on that jetta....

but that may be an exaggeration....

crap, I gotta run to class...

its funny that this topic came up lol... one of my best freinds has a 2.0 jetta i think its a 98 and it is THE slowest car i have ever been in... im dead serious when i say that. He let me borrow it one day to do some work to it and im pretty sure it wouldnt break 18's at the strip....

you would still beat him even the 1.8 turbo stock isnt that fast
You'd be surprised...my dad has 1.8T Jetta and it's pretty quick....not as fast as my 5.0 though.

I used to have a 2003 Gti 1.8t 20v and that little thing was pretty fast. I had a Revo chip and a 3' turboback exhaust, and it ran 14.1 @ 99mph in the 1/4. That was about 1500 dollars in mods . I would have to say that stock, the 1.8t motor is pretty even with my 94 GT. I'm not sure if my motor in the mustang is funked up but I ran 15.5@ 90mph stock (I had just a catback). The 2.0 motor is slow, thats a 8v that is designed for good gas mileage and thats it.

watch out for those jettas covered in stickers like in The Fast and the Furious, they can break into the low 18s
